Upload Files

Uploading files within CourseSales.com is possible by Trainers, Students and Configuration managers. You have the ability to create your own upload fields, and add these to your own forms. Access to upload fields depends on your license. The file size per field is also determined by your license type.

To add an upload field on an existing form first create the field using the Type ‘file’. Adding the field to the form will then make that field available to upload files. Adding the same field on to contacts will ensure the file is then available on the contact record (if it comes from a document.)

It is also possible to add these fields to Document topic forms, eg when you wish trainers to upload the results of a student’s paper based or spreadsheet based results.

Limitations

The size of the file that can be uploaded is limited, and depends on your license. However you can have more than one field on a form eg: two fields will effectively double the total file size than can be uploaded, when uploading two files. Keep in mind however that the main problem is timeouts, so several large files on a form risk this - and these depend on the overall network so there’s little we can do to guarantee service, this increases with the larger number of files and the higher the total size being uploaded by the form.

Uploading 5 x 5 Mb files for example has shown to fail more than 50% of the time. You would be better off having fewer fields eg 3 maximim or having the files uploades in separate actions - making the registration process span over more than one occasion.
