Working with Agents who sell your courses

Sunday, Apr 10, 2016

Working with agents who sell your courses means giving the agent the option to sell your courses for a commission or other incentive. The business arrangements can be varied, you can offer courses as a discounted price, with the agent charging students the price they prefer. Within CourseSales.com you can have the following options:

  • The agent can include your courses on their website

  • The agent can take payment on your site via their own payment method

  • The agent has the option to have different pricing

  • The agent has different terms and conditions

  • Emails to come from the agent with their branding and sender addresses.

There are multiple ways to set up these configurations depending on what you want to achieve.

You need to ask the following questions:

  • Will the agent or you take payment for the courses?

  • Is it important that communication comes from the training organisation or should emails be tailored for the agent?

  • Will the agent include your courses in their own website?

  • Will terms and conditions vary depending on the agent?

  • Do students from agent need to be grouped and managed differently, eg different process steps?

Here is the run down, the options you choose and have available will depend on the license you have and what functionality you require.

Including courses on the agent’s website.

Basic setup: Share your public listing URL

The list of courses could be incorporated into the agent's website using an iframe, or directly to the pages provided using the following link: https://[shortname].coursesales.com/public/courses?h=1

The appearance of course lists and forms can be modified with CSS and JavaScript files.

This would mean students would be directly enrolled into your courses, tracking which students are with a particular agent is easy via a field on the forms, eg ‘billing contact’ or a hidden ‘referral’ field using javascript. Emails sent to student would be the same for all, coming from the licensed training company, with no customisation of content on a per agent basis. This ensures consistent communication from the training organisation. Learn more about how to set up a tracking method.

Standard setup level 1: Share your public listing URL with internal tracking of registrations

You can setup different pricing structures ( Alternative Pricing) - this requires the International Training Company license or above. The price types also refer to different terms and conditions, using the remainder content sections can also allow you to tailor the emails with headers and footers as necessary. The URL to the public listing or public forms used by the agent includes a code that represents their prices and content (terms and email modifications). This means courses can be booked on to your course dates, but the listing can include customised prices and terms and while the email content will be the same for all students the header and footer can be customised.

Standard setup level 2: set up your agents as ‘Providers’.

This requires a reseller license. It gives you greater control to tailor the message to specific agents, means managing your course masters, process steps process rules and content as different providers.

Advanced set up: Integrate with the API

Your agent could use our Web Services API to request information about your courses and integrate them within their site.
